Wayne is a cofounder of the Blackhawks and has served as the team captain
since the beginning in 1986. Known for his outstanding all around play,
Wayne has accumulated countless All-Tournament accolades in the smaller
tournaments since 1986. Wayne plays the #2 position (second base) for
the Blackhawks where it's more important to be the quarterback for the
defense and make calls to the back fielders. Wayne has consistently
put up solid numbers, however, in a position where the balls you must
field are moving really fast. From '88-'92 possibly Wayne's most dominant
years. In World Series games from '89-92 Wayne hit .670 and fielded
3.04 balls/game. Wayne has made World Series All-Tournament teams as
both a left handed and right handed hitter.
Tournament Highlights: Wayne hit 15 for 18 in the Dallas invitational
tournament in 1986 and took home the Offensive MVP award. In the 1989
Oklahoma Centennial Tournament Wayne was 22 for 26 (.846) and made 17
put-outs earning Offense All-Tournament honors and claimed the tournament
MVP honor. In the 1990 Oklahoma Cantonal Tournament Wayne went 13 for
17 (.765) and was selected to his third straight Oklahoma Offensive
All-Tournament Team. In the 1992 South Texas Shoot-out in Houston, Tx,
Wayne hit 16 for 17 and claimed another Offensive MVP award. Wayne made
the Defensive All-Tournament Team in the Oklahoma City Tournament in
1992 with 2.75 put outs/game. In the 1993 Oklahoma City Tournament Wayne
was 26 for 33 (.788) and recorded 2.75 put-outs which was good enough
to make both the Offensive and Defensive All-Tournament teams. World
Series: Wayne has played in over 100 world series games in his career
including 91 with the Austin Blackhawks as their team captain. Wayne
hit .682 and recorded 21 put outs in the 1992 World Series as the lead
off hitter and kick started a run of seven consecutive World Series
Championships for Austin. Wayne has been outstanding in the Championship
games for Austin hitting a collective .698 with 19 put-outs. 1988 Offensive
All-Tournament, 1989 Defensive All-Tournament, 1997 Offensive All-Tournament,
1998 Offensive All-Tournament.
